Things I Don’t Like:
(This is all optional information, not strict DNWs.)
- Horror.
- Zombies, vampires, werewolves etc unless specifically requested.
- Gore, necrophilia.
- Torture of animals. (Humans/humanoids/other sapients being tortured is more than fine!)
- Graphic descriptions of nausea/vomiting (i.e. anything beyond “X was feeling nauseated/threw up”).
- Reader inserts.
- Unrequested depowered/non-powered AUs, unrequested modern AUs.
- A/B/O
- Crossovers/fusions between fandoms I haven't asked for. (Crossover within any fandom in my letter or previous exchange letters, along with mythology and folklore, are more than fine!)
- Age regression, de-ageing, or, unless requested, AUs in which one character is suddenly older than a previously older-than-them character (ageswap?).
- Girl!penis. (Trans characters are great, but not cis women possessing penises.)
- Tentacles etc.
- Extreme underage (pre-pubertal children), unrequested smut for underage relationships
- Anachronistic discussions of sexuality and other issues.
General Likes:
Tropes, Genres, and (for fic) Story Elements
- Angst. Drama. Politics. Tragedy.
- I love canon divergence AUs, and For Want Of A Nail and other what-if scenarios.
- Soulmates! Not necessarily soulmate AUs (although that'd be more than fine), but soulmates as in 'I knew you the moment I saw you', or 'I felt you in my soul' or any other version of that—the electric connection is something I adore. Soulmate things I love include in every version of every reality, in another life, fated to be separated again and again.
- Fake dating and arranged marriage within the canon setting.
- Time travel and time loops, especially timefuckery where everything is fucked up!
- M/M mpreg! Especially (but not limited to) mpreg as body horror
- Similarly, F/F fpreg! (I prefer pregnancies in F/F and M/M to pregnancies in F/M.)
- In-world mythology.
- Cultural differences and clashes that occur due to cultural differences.
- Worldbuilding in general.
- Lovers to enemies and enemies to lovers.
- Trope subversions.
- I have A Thing for sister/sister, and focusing on the sister aspects of the relationship—how they're alike and how they're different, and just how they're sisters.
- Competence porn! I also adore people being messes and general failboats, because, uh, contradictions?
- I really like characters struggling with the mores and norms of the societies they live in, whether involving some form of societal bigotry or not.
- And characters struggling with morality and right and wrong, whether their own internal code of ethics or external expectations.
- Generally I love seeing how characters are shaped by the time and place they live in and how it interacts with the core of their identity.
- Genderswapping het to F/F or M/M! (This is the majority of relationships I’ve requested.)
- I’ve requested General Audiences because I’d prefer that smut isn’t the focus, but brief interludes of smut would be fine.
- For fic, playing with names of genderswapped characters, especially for fantasy canons.
- Playing with gender—I adore genderfucks in general.
- I’ve only requested ‘Always a Different Gender’ so I’d love it if you stuck to that, and explored what changes and what doesn’t if the character(s) is/are born a different gender.
- For genderswapping male characters to female (this is completely 100% optional but) I would love explorations of how misogyny would affect their character if they live in a misogynistic world. But I’d also love ‘[Character] is a woman but nothing else changes’ for fic.
- Similarly, for genderswapping het to M/M or F/F, I would love explorations of homophobia if the world is homophobic, or if not nothing changing in the relationship both.
Character and Relationships Dynamics
- Hurt, and not necessarily comfort.
- Fucked-up families and messy friendships which really, really aren't good for the characters, but they love each other very much anyway
- Characters finding ways to move past the fucked-upness and the relationships end up flourishing
- moving past fucked-up-ness and leaving what they don't want behind
- a constant cycle of messing up.
- Found families!
- Intense friendships which play a central role in the characters' lives.
- For longer works, plotty fics are always welcome!
- Stoic and/or emotionally incompetent characters
- Characters finding ways to come to terms with themselves, with their pasts, and with their loved ones and/or finding their place in the world.
- Characters who and relationships which fall just short of the mark, the almost-most-not-quite. I think the closest word to this would be hamartia in its original sense?
- I love characters with flaws and unpleasant qualities!
- I like relationships that are fated to end in tragedy.
Stylistic Things for Fic
- I like all kinds of fic, so go wild—linear narrative, flashbacks, epistolary; whatever you think of is lovely, the more daring the better. I especially adore faux-historical documents and faux academia.
- Relatedly, interactive fiction!
- Characters teasing and bantering with each other.
- I don’t mind any type of POV (including second person!). In fact, POV switches and outside POVs on relationships would be lovely.
Darker Likes
- Dark places and enchantments which entrap people without their knowledge
- Getting lost in creepy surroundings
- Corruption and decay
- Explorations of the darker side of magic (or its equivalent), especially magic that's considered 'good'.
- Exploration of the supernatural aspects of the canons.
- Nature being eerily alive and dangerous.
- Child soldiers, trauma, and really ugly, messy wars.
- Characters trapped in vicious cycles.
- Characters who think they're 'not good enough' for their partner(s).
- Situations where characters are blackmailed/coerced into doing things they don't want to do.
- Fucked-up families and friendships and relationships; people codependent to the point of almost-insanity, and far beyond anything healthy.
- Looking into messed-up characters' thought processes.
- Terrible things being done in the name of good by characters who see themselves as good.
- Perversion of the 'good' side of magic to do evil things.
- Mindfucks and powerplay.
- Torture for the sake of torture, and characters being stoic through torture.
- Noncon. I like both works focused on sexy (for fic and art purposes) noncon as well as more seriously-dealt with noncon and noncon aftermath.
- Pregnancy due to F/F or M/M noncon.
- Badtouch that doesn't lead to noncon, it's just there and creepy. (Especially when coupled with emotional fuckery and mindgames.)
- Relationships where one characters is in love, but the other isn't.
- Partners doing terrible things to each other.
- Characters who hate themselves and lash out at the world and do fucked-up things as a result.
- Really, really dark stories which end in the 'everyone dying' sort of tragedy.
- AUs where everything goes wrong.
- For darkfic especially, I love outsider PoVs—it makes everything 100% more terrible for me.
A World of Ice & Fire/Fire & Blood - George R. R. Martin
F!Aegon II Targaryen & None, F!Daemon I Blackfyre & None
- For both of these characters I want very similar things. They were born in chaotic times and their maleness was instrumental to shaping the history of Westeros—how would their gender change that?
- For both of them, their claim comes through them being male, and that claim to the throne leads to civil war. How does that change when they’re genderswapped? And their relationships with their mothers—both the characters had mothers who really want them to be king, so how does them being born women change that?
- For Aegon, a female younger daughter wouldn’t be able to challenge the rule of an older sister (and a sister who’s Targaryen from both sides) as strongly as canon Aegon did, but do f!Aegon and her mother still try to have her become queen? And is it by becoming queen regnant or marrying f!Aegon to Prince Jacaerys? What is f!Aegon’s relationship with her sister Rhaenyra like?
- For Daemon, how does Daena react to her bastard being a girl? Is f!Daemon still raised to think of herself as rightful/future queen? Can f!Daemon get enough support to start a civil war, or is Daeron’s rule unchallenged? How does Aegon treat his bastard daughter?
F!Rhaegar Targaryen & None
- How does Rhaegar being a woman change the power balance of Westeros? Is there ever a point at which F!Rhaegar is presumed to be Aerys’ heir? Does Rhaegar being a woman change the existence or nature of Robert’s Rebellion?
- Is Viserys still a boy in this AU? Does that change anything? Does f!Rhaegar end up going into exile with Dany and Viserys?
- Either way she would probably have married a prominent noble to consolidate power—how does this change (or not) from canon? Does she have a female lover on the side, and does that come crashing down?
- I would like the core of Rhaegar’s character, wrt being very into the prophecy, to have a similar character theme if that’s something you want to do—how does that happen?
Cousins' War TV Series
M!Elizabeth Woodville/Edward IV, Elizabeth Woodville/F!Edward IV. Elizabeth of York/F!Henry VII, M!Elizabeth of York/Henry VII
- I’m putting all of these relationships together because I’m interested in a very similar thing for both of the relationships and their various gender configurations. They’re both tied so deeply to gender roles in the show and it’d be interesting to see genderswap!
- Elizabeth Woodville and Edward IV—I love the whirlwind romance but how does that happen if they’re both men or both women? For F!Edward, does King George romance Elizabeth and when Elizabeth comes to court she falls for the king’s sister? Or does she meet F!Edward while fighting for her husband’s lands back, or maybe Jacquetta gets her a place in F!Edward’s household? For M!Elizabeth, I imagine he’d be a Lancastrian partisan like his brothers—how do he and the king get along in light of this? How does history change if Edward marries Bona of Savoy (but keeps M!Elizabeth as his lover)?
- For Elizabeth of York and Henry VII, changing one of their genders ight change the outcome of the War of the Roses. If Elizabeth Woodville’s eldest child was a boy, none of the messiness of Richard’s regency and claiming of kingship and everything that followed would have taken place. Does M!Elizabeth welcome back the Lancaster partisans in a show of friendship once he’s become king? Or do they meet as enemies on the battlefield? And if Margaret Beaufort’s only child is a girl, are there other Tudor claimants who come forward, or is there no challenge to Richard’s throne, or does Elizabeth challenge him herself? What becomes of Lizzie and F!Henry in this universe—is F!Henry friends with Lizzie when they’re both growing up?
- And I actually enjoyed the witchcraft and curses and foresight on the show, so if you want to include any of that feel free!
Doctor Who (2005)
F!Jack Harkness & None
- The 51st century doesn’t really care about minor things like gender or sexuality (or is it just more subtle or different forms of bigotry?), so how does Jack navigate the 19th-21st centuries?
- One of the fascinating things about Jack for me is that he’s such a part of Earth and its people, especially Torchwood, but still that little bit apart from everyone and everything by virtue of both his immortality and everything about his life before he landed on Earth, and I’d imagine Jack being a woman would only intensify that. Something about that, maybe?
- Or maybe something to do with Jack’s immortality and fixed point-ness? Someone trying to exploit Jack’s immortality? An exploration of what Jack’s immortality means at the end of everything or through the ages? All the people Jack’s loved and lost through the ages (this especially for art, though fic is good too)—Jack loves so intensely and I love it? I’m not a fan of the idea of Jack being the Face of Boe, though.
- Or Jack on a mission, Torchwood or pre-canon Time Agency or pre- or post-canon freelancing? Or having to make a hard choice? Or an AU where Jack doesn’t join Torchwood?
Game of Thrones (TV)
F!Jorah Mormont/Daenerys Targaryen
- An exiled female knight trades assassinating the Targs for a pardon, but ends up falling for and pledging her sword to Dany!
- Or F!Jorah coming to Dany under a different pretence or different underlying motivation, but still with the intention to assassinate her, and then reluctantly being charmed.
- I would love to see all the complicated loyalty, and F!Jorah obeying and protecting Dany and offering her sword to her. And Dany being vulnerable with F!Jorah, and relying on her. Basically, I’d love their dynamic to be similar to canon even if other people’s reactions to them change.
- I’d love the age gap in canon to be left intact, and the gap in their experiences.
F!Khal Drogo/Daenerys Targaryen
- Dany is offered to the only woman to ever be khal on her own strength, because Viserys doesn't want the threat of children not of his blood who have a claim to the Iron Throne.
- Noncon/dubcon-y dynamics, and Stockholm Syndrome but F/F! I would love to explore the power dynamics of Dany as f!Drogo’s wife, and how f!Drogo’s actions would and wouldn’t change.
- Or Dany being married to the brother of f!Drogo, and getting into a complicated relationship with her husband’s sister which ends with blood magic and dragons.
- For this request, I’d like f!Drogo to still be a khal, whether she’s already khal or she and Dany plot together to make her khal.
F!Rhaegar Targaryen & Daenerys Targaryen, F!Viserys Targaryen & Daenerys Targaryen
- Dany’s entire story would change so much if one of her brothers (or both of her brothers) was actually a sister, and I would love to see anything about that and about Dany’s relationship with her older sister(s).
- F!Rhaegar would be interesting because she’s so much older than Dany that she’d be a de facto parent figure. Does she go into exile with Dany, or send Dany off with Ser Darry alone? How would Rhaegar being a girl and Aerys’ only child for so long change Westeros and thus the circumstances of Dany’s birth?
- Viserys being a woman wouldn’t change pre-canon events much, I think, but does f!Viserys grow up with the same desire for and belief in the right to the throne that canon Viserys does? Is f!Viserys still controlling/possessive of Dany, or is their dynamic very different with f!Viserys protecting and caring for Dany a lot more?
- I would also love to see both Viserys and Rhaegar being borm female, and Dany in exile with her older sisters and how that changes her fate (or how she ends up not in exile).
Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
F!Obi-Wan Kenobi & None
- For this request I’d love Obi-Wan being a woman and nothing much in canon changing (or if you want to go AU feel free, but I’d prefer that the AU changes not be because Obi-Wan is a woman, just because I prefer that in the Republic in general and within the Jedi misogyny is at a minimum—although it’d be interesting to explore the dynamic of f!Obi-Wan on a Jedi mission to a more misogynistic planet).
- I do think Anakin’s perception of Obi-Wan might be different with f!Obi-Wan and I’d love to see any exploration of f!Obi-Wan’sand Anakin’s dynamic.
- I would be interested in any and all F/F ships, including those involving genderswap.
- Exploring Jedi culture and philosophy with a f!Obi-Wan would be interesting! Or f!Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine and dealing with the loss of her culture and people. (Please no Jedi bashing if you go with this option, though, and no completely negative discussions of the Jedi idea of no attachment.)
The Borgias (Showtime TV)
F!Cesare Borgia & None
- Genderswapping Cesare would change the dynamics of all of Cesare’s relationships and plots so much and I’m very interested in seeing where that goe. I would like F!Cesare to still be ambitious, to want to fight and protect her family. Does that happen more from the shadows, with politics and plots? Or is f!Cesare still determined to go to war and take on the world outright?
- I love Cesare’s struggle in his role as cardinal—would there be something similar for F!Cesare, trying to live up to expectations and ambitions that aren’t hers? Or F!Cesare as a warlord conquering Italy would also be great.
- I just want F!Cesare to still be plotting and murdering to protect her family, and/or her fucked up relationship with aforesaid family for this prompt---any direction you choose to take that is good!
- I would love F/F fics (and het incest is also good!). I’d also love to see how genderswapping other family members would change their relationship. Also F!Cesare and Caterina’s dynamic is something I’d be very interested in.
F!Cesare Borgia & F!Rodrigo Borgia
- Genderswapping both Cesare and Rodrigo would turn canon dynamics on its head, and I’m always here for going very very AU!
- Is there a way f!Rodrigo became Pope, somehow? (Involving copious bribery to get various church officials and cardinals to look the other way.) How would mother and daughter navigate the complications of this situation? Or f!Rodrigo becoming shadow pope through a male family member—M!Vanozza or a different Borgia. What would that look like?
- Or f!Rodrigo going a different path entirely, maybe even staying in Spain and meeting M!Vanozza there.
- I’d love to see the tensions and complications of their relationship and how dysfunctional it is, and how that would translate to genderswap. Are they partners in plotting even while having a very dysfunctional dynamic in genderswap ‘verse too, or does their relationship develop differently?
The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien
F!Aragorn & None
- The legacy of being Isildur’s Heir would be a lot more complicated for a female Aragorn—the direct male line would have died with Arathorn, after all. Would F!Aragorn even think about claiming the throne of Gondor? And if so, I’d love to see her path to that decision and the added obstacles she’d have in her way. (And maybe even something about old Númenorean ways and absolute primogeniture.)
- I’d also be interested in seeing very AU concepts of F!Aragorn (one thing I’m particularly interested in would be Númenoreans using matrilineal descent to choose their ruler, even if their rulers are Kings, but that’s just an idea—any other concept would also be welcome!).
- I’d also love to see F!Aragorn Rangering! Especially F!Strider. And how would F!Aragorn’s days as Thorongil have played out, if they did at all? Or her adventures beyond the known bounds of Middle-earth. Or how Aragorn being a woman would have changed her relationships with Gilraen or Elrond or Arwen (or M!Arwen). Or F!Aragorn on the Quest.
- Both het and femslash with any of the human characters would be great, and genderswapping any other male characters to women for F/F is very welcome!
The Silmarillion - J. R. R. Tolkien
F!Tar-Aldarion & None, F!Ar-Gimilzôr & None
- I feel like Tar-Aldarion and Ar-Gimilzôr are two characters whose impact on the narrative is very dependent on their gender, which is why I thought it’d be interesting to genderswap one of them (or both) to a woman.
- I would love to see Númenorean politics and, if that’s something you’re interested in, how Númenorean society is shaped by and influences gender, particularly in terms of genderswapping these characters.
- For Tar-Aldarion, genderswapping Tar-Aldarion to female would mean, IIRC, that all of Tar-Minastir’s children would be girls—would that change the system of inheritance in Númenor a generation earlier, or Tar-Minastir have passed the kingship down to a male relative and sidestepped the issue? For Ar-Gimilzôr, would a female Ar-Gimilzôr still be Queen? Númenor theoretically has absolute primogeniture at that point, I think, but hasn’t had ruling queens for some generations—why? And how does this affect Ar-Gimilzôr?
- Tar-Aldarion’s story is so shaped by his maleness and gender is so tied into it—how does a F!Tar-Aldarion’s sense of self and purpose and passion differ? (Does F!Tar-Aldarion/Erendis still happen?) The restoration of the Faifthful is tied to Ar-Gimilzôr marrying Inzilbêth—how does Ar-Gimilzôr being a woman change the last days of Númenor”
The West Wing
F!Josh Lyman & none
- I would love to see all the shipfic with power differences and loyalty. I would prefer F/F to het for F!Josh (and genderswapping other male characters to female is more than welcome), but I don’t have any other specific preferences.
- Josh as a woman is so very intriguing to me, and I’d love to see how that works out. I’d love the broad strokes of canon wrt Josh’s story to be the same (unless you’re going very AU for whatever reason, that’s fine too, just not only because Josh is a woman), but if you want to change character dynamics or other details feel free!
- I’d love to see Josh pre-canon. Josh’s childhood or time in college and law school, maybe, or climbing up the political ladder? Or the early days of the Bartlet for America campaign?
- Or maybe Josh politicking and being Deputy CoS. Or post-canon, working as CoS in the Santos administration and the challenges involved in that.
- Or an AU idea I’d love to see if that’s your thing: Josh ends up CoS instead of CJ (but IMO that’d end Very Badly because of Josh’s and the President’s temperaments). I have an even wilder, wackier idea about Josh being forced to become VP because of a string of disasters/scandals befalling Santos’ VP picks and Josh being one of the few remaining people Congress will agree to nominate, and then somehow becoming President, but it’s a very wild wacky AU the very premise of which is OOC. So.
F!Josh Lyman/Donna Moss
- The White House Deputy Chief of Staff and her loyal assistant being in a relationship with each other? Yes please! You can have this happen like in the show, or go totally AU, whichever you prefer.
- I’d love to see a moment during canon with UST—Donna helping Josh get ready for a meeting, Josh and Donna working on something together, Josh mentoring Donna. Or post-canon established relationship is great too.
- Or an AU where they get together mid-series—how does that work out? What changes happen to their dynamic?
- Complicated power dynamics and loyalty are my jam, and I’d love to see that with the two of them, the complications of their jobs and figuring out how to get a relationship to work.
F!Josh Lyman/F!Matt Santos
- I love the near-instantaneous loyalty Josh gives to Santos, and the scope and strength of that loyalty, and the intensity of their relationship, and how they’re foils to each other, and I’d love to see what their dynamic would be like as F/F.
- I’d love to see quiet stolen moments on the campaign trail, Josh and Matt conferring on something or talking over a decision or strategy or just having a conversation, or an alone in the crowd moment. Or Matt getting to know Josh and learning about Josh and learning to trust Josh. Or a truly stolen moment, stolen kisses or Josh helping Matt relax.
- I’d also love to see anything in the Santos administration with President Santos and Santos’ Chief of Staff, working together in some kind of political manoeuvring or in the Sit Room. Or Josh having to talk Matt down from doing something, or a moment where they doubt each other. Or anything about being in a relationship while doing their respective jobs.
- Or AU ideas: they meet each other sooner than they do in canon (or they’ve known each other for a long time, even?), Santos doesn’t win (how does that affect their relationship?), for whatever reason Josh doesn’t leave the Bartlet White House.
