Rule 63 Letter

Dear Rule 63 Creator,

So hi, dearest creator. I’m so glad you’re writing/drawing for me! I love genderswaps (one of my favorite tropes!) so sit back and relax, and please don't be frightened by this long-ish letter. I'm sure I'll love whatever you create for me!

I’ve requested both General Audiences and Explicit, and fanart and fanfic, for all my requests.

If you want to know more about me , I’m

[archiveofourown.org profile] The_Wavesinger, [tumblr.com profile] the-wavesinger and The Wavesinger (Silmarillion Writers’ Guild) on my fannish haunts. You can also find me here on DW, and as [livejournal.com profile] the_wavesinger on LJ, but I don’t frequent those places often. I If you want more on my fic preferences (however unlikely that is, after this very long letter!), my fic rec tag on Tumblr and my AO3 bookmarks may be of some use, and for art, my art and fan art tags on Tumblr may be of some use You may also want to poke through my previous exchange letters.

This letter has a list of DNWs and general likes, and also fandom-specific prompts. However, please don't feel obliged to stick to my prompts—as long as you don't include my DNWs, I'm sure I'll love whatever you like.

DNWs:

  • Unrequested genderswap (i.e. please don’t genderswap non-requested characters unless I’ve specified in optional details)
  • Gore/guro/vore, necrophilia.
  • Torture of animals. (Humans/humanoids/other sapients being tortured is more than fine!)
  • Graphic descriptions of nausea/vomiting.
  • Reader inserts.
  • Mundane AUs, unrequested depowered/non-powered AUs, unrequested modern AUs.
  • Non-femslash A/B/O; femslash for this trope is fine!
  • Crossovers/fusions between fandoms I haven't asked for. (Crossover within any fandom in my letter or previous exchange letters, along with mythology and folklore, are more than fine!)
  • Please no age regression, de-ageing, or AUs in which one character is suddenly older than a previously older-than-them character (ageswap?).
  • Girl!penis. (Trans characters are fine, just please no inexplicable g!p.)
  • For smut, I'd prefer not to see bloodplay, scat, watersports, age play (including daddy/mommy kink), and any sort of permanent marking/scarring/body modification (scarring and permanent markings outside smut is perfectly fine) unless I've prompted these things for the specific pairing.
  • H/C fics centering on characters with depression and/or anxiety, and/or characters who self-harm or have eating disorders are not my favourite thing. (All of these things are more than fine in non-H/C fic, but not as things which can be hugged/cuddled better, please.)
  • Unrequested relationships. (Canon relationships and background relationships are fine unless otherwise indicated.)
  • Unrequested parent/child incest.
  • Extreme underage (pre-pubertal children), unrequested smut for underage relationships
  • Anachronistic discussions of sexuality and/or characters lecturing other characters on SJ issues.

General Likes:
Genderswap-specific Likes

  • Character design changes! For art especially, but for fic, too (descriptions of the m! or f! character).
  • Especially playing with hair/outfits.
  • Genderswapping het to F/F or M/M! (This is the majority of relationships I’ve requested.)
  • Smut with the genderswapped characters!
  • For fic, playing with names of genderswapped characters.
  • For art, changes to hair and clothes specifically, in addition to general character design stuff. Or nothing in the character’s style changing is great too! (For modern canons where it’s relevant, I’m always a fan of pantsuits.)
  • Playing with gender—I adore genderfucks in general.
  • I’ve only requested ‘Always a Different Gender’ so I’d love it if you stuck to that, and explored what changes and what doesn’t if the character(s) is/are born a different gender.
  • For genderswapping male characters to female (this is completely 100% optional but) I would love explorations of how misogyny would affect their character if they live in a misogynistic world. If not I’d love ‘[Character] is a woman but nothing else changes’ for fic.
  • Similarly, for genderswapping het to M/M or F/F, I would love explorations of homophobia if the world is homophobic, or if not nothing changing in the relationship (except for the smut).

Tropes, Genres, and (for fic) Story Elements
  • Angst. Drama. Politics. Tragedy.
  • Philosophical ponderings!
  • I love canon divergence AUs, and For Want Of A Nail and other what-if scenarios. I'd love both longer fic (for fic) and art/ficlets as snapshots of what could have been, all the things that could've happened, but didn't.
  • Soulmates! Not necessarily soulmate AUs (although that'd be more than fine), but soulmates as in 'I knew you the moment I saw you', or 'I felt you in my soul' or any other version of that—the electric connection is something I adore. Soulmate things I love include in every version of every reality, in another life, fated to be separated again and again.
  • Regency AUs.
  • Fake dating within the canon setting.
  • Arranged marriage within the canon setting.
  • Time travel and time loops, especially timefuckery where everything is fucked up!
  • (For femslash only) A/B/O
  • In-world mythology.
  • Cultural differences and clashes that occur due to cultural differences.
  • Worldbuilding in general.
  • Battle couples!
  • Lovers to enemies.
  • Enemies to lovers.
  • Trope subversions.
  • I have A Thing for sister/sister, and focusing on the sister aspects of the relationship—how they're alike and how they're different, and just how they're sisters.
  • Competence porn!
  • I also adore people being messes and general failboats, because, uh, contradictions?
  • I have zero problems with fics dealing with misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism etc. I like realism, but not overly-depressing fics or fics centered on issues at the expense of characterization. (I define 'overly-depressing' as continuous angst focusing on Issues and Only Issues.)

Tone, Setting, and Miscellaneous Things

  • Characters dancing and spending time outdoors.
  • Characters in situations that shouldn't be funny, but are.
  • Characters who're comfortable around each other, and who tease and laugh with each other.
  • Slice-of-life fics and, for relationships, a look at all the quirks/annoyances of cohabitation.
  • Banter! I feel like I've repeated this a million times in this letter, but I adore banter!
  • Casual situations and everyday annoyances
  • Drama interspersed with humor.
  • Characters sleeping on each other, making out for hours, drinking from the same cup, and generally being cohabit-y.
  • Characters solving mysteries and going on journeys together!
  • Bittersweetness.
  • All the hard questions with no answers, characters trapped in unsolvable dilemmas, loss and grief and moving on.
  • Gallows humour, and humour in otherwise dark situations generally.
  • And just humour in general.
  • And if you want to go in the crack-y direction, I wouldn't mind that as well!
  • I adore OFCs and textual ghosts, for many, many reasons.
  • I'm more than fine with most side relationships, unless stated otherwise.
  • Transgender characters would be amazing, as would non-binary characters and just fucking with and/or ignoring traditional gender roles in general.

Character and Relationships Dynamics.

  • Characters who and relationships which fall just short of the mark, the almost-most-not-quite. I think the closest word to this would be hamartia in its original sense?
  • Hurt, and not necessarily comfort.
  • Fucked-up families and messy friendships which really, really aren't good for the characters, but they love each other very much anyway. I don't mind either characters finding ways to move past the fucked-upness and the relationships end up flourishing, or moving past fucked-up-ness and leaving what they don't want behind, but I also don't mind a constant cycle of messing up.
  • Found families!
  • Intense friendships which play a central role in the characters' lives.
  • For longer works, plotty fics are always welcome!
  • Stoic and/or emotionally incompetent characters
  • Characters finding ways to come to terms with themselves, with their pasts, and with their loved ones and/or finding their place in the world (think Circle of Life).
  • Characters who're broken, characters who're tired, characters who're lost, characters who refuse to be found, characters who're hurt over and over again, characters who never ever win, characters who've given up. And characters who love, characters who give, characters who're selfless and kind even after everything they've been through, characters who give their all and then some more to people they love, characters who never give up, characters who keep on hoping and keep on fighting even beyond the bitter end. And characters who're a mixture of both types.
  • I love characters with flaws and unpleasant qualities! Awesome ladies can be awesome and flawed :).
  • I like relationships that are fated to end in tragedy, but I also really don't mind a pinch of humor with my angst, if that's your thing.

Stylistic Things for Fic

  • I like all kinds of fic, so go wild—linear narrative, flashbacks, epistolary…whatever you think of is lovely, the more daring the better. I especially adore faux-historical documents and faux academia.
  • Relatedly, interactive fiction!
  • Characters teasing and bantering with each other.
  • I don’t mind any type of POV (including second person!). In fact, POV switches and outside POVs on relationships would be lovely.

Smut Likes

  • I will always want F/F or M/M smut, even if I haven't explicitly requested it! Femsub is preferred for F/M D/s smut, though I'm down for femdom if that's your thing, too.
  • I prefer a balance between sensuality, emotions, and physical sensations. Anything from playful to creepy is more than fine (although there are a few things I'd prefer not to see, as outlined in the kink DNWs).
  • Helplessness and humiliation. These are the two main things I love in kinky smut, and everything else derives from there.
  • Bantering and laughing during sex is lovely, as is gentleness.
  • And banter between the dom and the sub in D/s scenes (which can edge towards slightly cruel on the dom's part!).
  • Angry sex/hatesex, smut that gives off vibes of slightly creepy but in a way that can't be pinpointed
  • Dubcon and emotional manipulation!
  • Explorations of power dynamics. I especially like service submission, and power dynamics based on the characters' titles/positions! (I do confess to having a kink for honorifics and titles!)
  • Doms having control over the sub's everyday minutiae (although for short periods of time—24/7/365 high-protocol D/s is a turn-off)
  • Punishment play, especially unusual forms of discipline! (I don't like erotic spanking in and of itself, but spanking as punishment is great! And whatever interesting punishments you can come up with.)
  • Corner time, especially kneeling on rice/somehow having to display themselves/after a spanking.
  • In general, being put on display/having to put themselves on display.
  • Tickling! Both playful tickling and tickle torture (bondage + tickling = yessss).
  • Gags and other ways to prevent speech. And weirdly specific, but fingers of one character in the other's mouth.
  • Groping, especially pulling breasts out of tops (and sometimes letting them just hang there, if you're into humiliation).
  • Orgasm denial, especially chastity devices.
  • Fuck-or-die scenarios.
  • Creative bondage (including predicament bondage. No, strike that, especially predicament bondage, and especially if the predicament is partly psychological).
  • Similarly, ordering a partner to stay still/hold a certain pose.
  • Incest kink.
  • Hairpulling.
  • Directed masturbation (one character instructing the other how to masturbate).
  • Dirty talk (including long distance dirty talk).
  • Navels, inner things, ribs, and kinks for these body parts.
  • (Not really a like, but I'm afraid my AO3 bookmarks won't say much about my smut likes, because I have a separate account for smutty bookmarks. Sorry.)

Darker Likes

  • Dark places and enchantments which entrap people without their knowledge
  • Getting lost in creepy surroundings
  • Corruption and decay
  • Explorations of the darker side of magic (or its equivalent), especially magic that's considered 'good'.
  • Exploration of the supernatural aspects of the canons.
  • Nature being eerily alive and dangerous.
  • Child soldiers, trauma, and really ugly, messy wars.
  • Characters trapped in vicious cycles.
  • Characters who think they're 'not good enough' for their partner(s).
  • Situations where characters are blackmailed/coerced into doing things they don't want to do.
  • Fucked-up families and friendships and relationships; people codependent to the point of almost-insanity, and far beyond anything healthy.
  • Looking into messed-up characters' thought processes.
  • Terrible things being done in the name of good by characters who see themselves as good.
  • Perversion of the 'good' side of magic to do evil things.
  • Mindfucks and powerplay.
  • Torture for the sake of torture, and characters being stoic through torture.
  • Noncon. I like both works focused on sexy (for fic and art purposes) noncon as well as more seriously-dealt with noncon and noncon aftermath.
  • Pregnancy due to F/F or M/M noncon.
  • Badtouch that doesn't lead to noncon, it's just there and creepy. (Especially when coupled with emotional fuckery and mindgames.)
  • Relationships where one characters is in love, but the other isn't.
  • Partners doing terrible things to each other.
  • Characters who hate themselves and lash out at the world and do fucked-up things as a result.
  • Really, really dark stories which end in the 'everyone dying' sort of tragedy.
  • AUs where everything goes wrong.
  • For darkfic especially, I love outsider PoVs—it makes everything 100% more terrible for me.

Art-Specific Likes and Prompts

  • I adore all kinds of jewellery—the more elaborate the better!
  • And elaborate hairdos! And elaborate clothes! And elaborate makeup!
  • I do, however, also enjoy seeing characters in their workaday attire, doing everyday things.
  • Characters with visible height differences from each other!
  • Elaborate weapons
  • In-universe art. (Famous portraits, posters for events, propaganda/health-and-safety leaflets, handwritten notes, maps etc.)
  • In-universe statues and tapestries and architecture
  • Court settings with pomp and circumstance or everyday life are both things I enjoy seeing.
  • I also enjoy seeing outdoor settings. Lakes, mountains, spooky forests, bustling cities, rivers, tiny hamlets, cottages, forests...
  • Specific canon locations (like the Withywindle for Tolkien, the Spirit World for A:tLA etc.)
  • Studies in opposites
  • Limited palettes
  • Non-traditional art mediums would be welcome.
  • Characters doing things they love together (I know this sounds very pairing-specific, but I'd lovelovelove this for friends and/or parents and children and/or siblings, too).
  • Ceremonies and events (coronations, balls, feasts, weddings etc.)
  • Picnics, garden parties, outdoor events, riding, hunting etc.
  • Characters arguing or debating with each other.
  • Starlight and warm colors and pastels.
  • Colour palettes that fit the character (golds and greens for Goldberry in Tolkien, for example, or shades of red for Natasha Romanov in MCU)
  • Characters passionate with and about each other and about things they love
  • Seasonal settings (falling leaves or snowed-over land or flower-filled meadows or golden fields etc.)
  • Characters fighting and having each other's backs, and, for A:TLA, bending!
  • Bloodied and bruised characters leaning on each other on on the nearest available upright surface after a hard battle
  • Characters facing each other across the battlefield (especially friends-turned-enemies)
  • Gift-giving, both literal and metaphorical
  • Characters reading or writing
  • Characters in libraries/otherwise surrounded by books
  • Characters who've fallen asleep (in bed, on a pile of books, sprawled across the sofa, on the floor, on another character—anywhere, any place, any time)
  • Characters in meetings/teams seated around tables or in lounges
  • For modern-era canons, airports!
  • Characters who look messy and/or rumpled and tired and way too fucking busy why is this my life
  • Possessive touches (one character having their arm around another, hand at the small of back, cupping another character’s face etc)
  • Characters in a private moment.
  • Casually intimate gestures, like handholding or hands on shoulders or arms around waists/on shoulders, or just reaching out to adjust the other's clothing
  • Kneeling and hand-kissing for pairings where I specify loyalty kink, or for gen or shippy combinations which involve a superior and subordinate in a setting where kneeling would work
  • Forehead kissing!
  • Kissing and making out, especially making out in bed/in unusual places and/or a significant height difference between characters
  • Tickling and playful tussling
  • Day-to-day activities (eating, bathing, morning rituals etc.)
  • Characters being cheesy or tender or dorky or awkward with each other (or all or some of these!).
  • All the smutty things I've indicated in the smut section! For art especially, a visual focus on power difference (standing/kneeling, clothed/unclothed etc.), looking well-fucked and/or humiliated, straining against bondage, decorative bondage.

Other Stuff I like (i.e. a very skippable section)

  • Action/Adventure:fight scenes between individuals ◈ big battle scenes ◈ going on quests/missions ◈ fighting bad guys together ◈ period-typical/canon-typical weapons ◈ characters being very very good at fighting/tactics/strategy ◈ strategy and tactics in general ◈ movements of large armies ◈ end-of-the world scenarios ◈ high-stakes battles or missions ◈ covert operations ◈ supernatural elements being involved in the mix in canons with supernatural/magical elements ◈ fighting techniques ◈ plotty missionfic
  • Angst: musings on futility □ hopeless situations and things falling apart □ characters' flaws getting the better of them □ battles being lost □ stuck in situations without support □ forced to deceive loved ones □ unhappy endings □ everything that could go wrong going wrong □ (internalized or otherwise) homophobia □ struggles with religion/faith/belief □ ethical/moral dilemmas □ misunderstandings □ feeling unloved □ being forced to hurt loved ones and do other bad things □ having to compromise on their ideals □ Hobson's choice situations □ betrayals of trust □ star-crossed lovers or the platonic version of this □ the world changing and leaving the characters behind □ things being lost to the ravages of time
  • in spaaaace ◎ different canon format (eg: musicals –> TV scripts) ◎ tone changes (eg: drama to comedy, tragedy to romance) ◎ crackification ◎ adding magic/supernatural elements to canons ◎ focusing on a different aspect of a story than the canon does
  • Established Relationship: arguments and fights ○ vicious cycles ○ drama ○ compromising and learning to live together ○ date nights ○ banter and flirting ○ falling into bed together after a long day ○ characters organizing their lives around each other ○ unhealthy, obsessive relationships ○ smut ○ meeting the family ○ acquiring pets and/or kids and/or property
  • Getting Together: meet-cutes (including canon divergence AUs) ◌ angst about each others' feelings ◌ obstacles that have to be overcome ◌ A is convinced B doesn't like them ◌ characters who haven't met in canon meeting for the first time ◌ fake dating leads to real dating ◌ fucking for the greater good ◌ something makes them do it ◌ enemies to lovers ◌ friends to lovers ◌ soulmate AUs ◌ reincarnation AUs ◌ slow burn ◌ hey I just met you this is crazy ◌ one night stands to lovers ◌ angst over not being allowed to be together ◌ A has been hurt by other people in the past and has to slowly fall for B ◌ unrequited love turning requited ◌ A falls for B, who's been nursing a crush on A since forever
  • Hurt/Comfort: noncon aftermath ◘ torture aftermath ◘ recovering from an abusive relationship ◘ other kinds of post-abuse trauma ◘ injury aftermath ◘ characters stitching themselves together ◘ partner/other person hurting character and then comforting them ◘ PTSD (in a canon-appropriate way) ◘ contrast between current gentleness and past violence ◘ the comfort not helping with certain instinctual reactions (touch aversion, flinching, hyperawareness, hypersensitivity etc.) ◘ comforter feeling helpless in the face of comfortee's issues ◘ two hurt/fucked-up characters trying to comfort each other ◘ attempts to comfort/make things better backfiring ◘ comfortee refusing to accept comfort
  • miscommunication ◍ wanting different things in life ◍ wanting different things from each other ◍ betrayal ◍ lying to friends/partners ◍ arguments ◍ blow-ups that have been a long time coming ◍ deliberate miscontsructions ◍ deliberately hurting each other ◍ unintentionally hurting each other
  • Slice of Life: I love seeing glimpses into character's everyday lives in canon-appropriate ways. I love slice-of-life fics as insight into characters' backstories and histories, as well as as looks into their heads and as ways to figure out what's making them tick, or to make it clear that the characters' everyday lives are immensely atypical/fucked up. I also love these kinds of fic as worldbuilding vehicles.

Agent Carter

  • Can I just say 'I'd love absolutely ANYTHING for this fandom'? Because if I were to compile a complete list of everything I adore about Agent Carter I'd probably be here all day. I love all the characters and ship basically everything in Agent Carter.
  • I am ridiculously sad that the show was cancelled, so anything post-Season Two would be great.
  • Since I can't say 'anything' (or, well, I could but it wouldn't be helpful): I adore the secret spy shenanigans and Peggy's over-the-top badassery. All the secret agent things are ridiculously iddy for me.
  • I love the very human antagonists and the handwavey science of Season One, but I also love the supernatural elements (and obviously again handwavey science) of Season Two.
  • International conspiracies and shadowy spy organizations!
  • I love how magnified everything is (and I think Agent Carter is a lot more comics-style than the MCU).
  • I love that Peggy is arrogant and over-confident and dismissive and kind of an asshole. (Also a great person, but she has flaws that aren't tied to her being a woman and I adore that, and also Agent Carter was actually what made me ship Peggy/Steve because they are ridiculously similar and yet completely different.)
  • The humour! I love Peggy's deadpan humour especially.
  • I also love that Peggy is the only female agents in an organization of, um, male agents, and she faces and fights misogyny even after she's proved herself over and over again, but she also has lots of significant female relationships and there's no Exception To The Norm narrative.
  • I also love what little we got to see of Peggy with the Howling Commandos and how much more comfortable she is in the field than behind a desk.
  • The end of Season Two left so many threads open, but then Season Three didn't happen and I'm so disappointed. So maybe something set post-canon?

F!Steve Rogers/F!Howard Stark

  • The idolization Howard had for Steve and all the angst involved in S1 is my favorite, and I would love both onesided HowardSteve and requited Howard/Steve (and also all the shades inbetween)
  • Both of them being women might actually alter their canon dynamic somewhat in this case—I’d love to see the businesswoman/engineer working for SSR and the sickly woman who disguised herself as a man to join the war effort bonding (or F!Howard lusting after F!Steve is good too, if that’s more your thing). Wartime romance/sex, maybe? Or for art, a quiet moment before a mission, or Steve and Howard in Howard’s lab (Howard teaching Steve?), or their first meeting?
  • Or post-canon, Howard grieving for Steve. Looking at photos/mementos, lost in memories, something Howard does in Steve’s memories?
  • Or an AU where Steve lives. How do they settle into life after the war, especially a life where they’re expected to stop fighting and just go on with their lives?

Doctor Who (2005)

  • Fandom-specific DNW: anything more than a passing mention of Miracle Day. I.e. Miracle Day-specific characters appearing, or more than one or two lines of a fic referencing Miracle Day.
  • My prompts are a lot more general for this section, especially for art, so I’m just going to list a few art things I’d love for this fandom:
    • aliens/alien planets and landscapes
    • alien flora and fauna
    • the Doctor’s Gallifreyan physiology
    • the characters having time-travelled to a historical era
    • visual depictions of time travel
    • the inside and outside of the TARDIS
    • the inside of the Hub
    • period-style clothing and/or Jack’s coat
  • This is Doctor Who, so I’ll always, of course, love timey-wimey stuff and weird and wacky worldbuilding and adventure, just as a side note.

F!Jack Harkness & None

My ships: Jack/the Doctor (any Doctor, genderswapped or otherwise, including almost-Doctors like Ganger!Eleven and the War Doctor), Jack/Martha, Jack/River, Jack/Rose(/Nine), Jack/Donna, Jack/Gwen, Jack/Estelle (or m!Estelle), Jack/original f!Jack (how does that work?), Jack/Jack, Jack/Tosh, Jack/Yasmin, Jack/Bill, Jack/OCs
Other character I’d like to see in gen: …any Doctor Who character, tbh. Go wild! And feel free to genderswap any of the male characters to women, though I’d prefer no F to M genderswaps for this fandom.

  • I saw this tag and realized I want f!Jack with the fire of a thousand suns. The 51st century doesn’t really care about minor things like gender or sexuality, so how does Jack navigate the 19th-21st centuries?
  • One of the fascinating things about Jack for me is that he’s such a part of Earth and its people, especially Torchwood, but still that little bit apart from everyone and everything by virtue of both his immortality and everything about his life before he landed on Earth, and I’d imagine Jack being a woman would only intensify that. Something about that, maybe?
  • Or maybe something to do with Jack’s immortality and fixed point-ness? Someone trying to exploit Jack’s immortality? An exploration of what Jack’s immortality means at the end of everything or through the ages? All the people Jack’s loved and lost through the ages (this especially for art, though fic is good too)—Jack loves so intensely and I love it? I’m not a fan of the idea of Jack being the Face of Boe, though.
  • Or Jack on a mission, Torchwood or pre-canon Time Agency or pre- or post-canon freelancing? Or having to make a hard choice? Or an AU where Jack doesn’t join Torchwood?

Hamilton – Miranda

  • Art-specific prompts, because I have less art prompts for this section:
    • Period costumes!
    • Alternately, the characters in different settings than canon (this canon is particularly ripe for that sort of re-imagining).
    • Moments from the album visualised, because again, this canon is particularly good for that.
    • 'Between the scenes' moments.
    • Unusual art styles, specifically for this canon because it fits.
    • Anything that re-creates the atmosphere of the musical.
    • Moments in the musical + just add nakedness.
  • I'm still very very slowly going through fanworks so forgive me if my prompts are things that everyone has written/drawn at some point and is completely sick of by now.
  • I don't mind whatever level of historical accuracy you go with—history what history, kind of sort of accurate, as accurate as you can get within the confines of the show, whatever. (I'm basically finished with Chernow's Hamilton bio and the Washington one too, so.) The only thing I ask is that you keep the things LMM changed.
  • Speaking of which, I really love the themes of how history will reflect you and how you're remembered is based on who tells your story that echo through the show.
  • For M/M and F/F (this is more fic-specific), I'd love to see period-typical homophobia and the sneaking around and near-discoveries etecetra that would result in.
  • For this show especially, I'm a fan of canon divergence AUs, alternate histories etc. Just all the what-if moments, please.
  • Also, genderswap! I'm very interested in what'd happen if any of the characters were of the opposite gender. Just please make sure that if you're switching genders for a M/M or F/F ship, you switch the genders of both characters unless I'm explicitly okay with it being otherwise.
  • Whatever cast you want to use (current Broadway/OBC/Chicago/West End etc.) to base art/descriptions off is fine! Just not actual historical figures' faces/appearances, please.

F!Alexander Hamilton/F!George Washington, F!Alexander Hamilton & F!George Washington

  • I loved their messy, strained dynamic in canon (the whole mentor and reluctant mentee thing they have going on, Hamilton's utter loyalty to Washington despite rebuffing Washington’s attempts at closeness, Washington seeing himself in Hamilton and relying so deeply on Hamilton) and I would love to see moar.
  • I’d prefer to see them in their original setting, following at least the broad strokes of canon. Any explanation you have for that is great—both of them going undercover as men to join the military, the two of them being one of the very few women serving openly, an AU where misogyny isn’t a thing during that time.
  • I would love to see fic/art during any period of canon—when Hamilton is serving as Washington’s aide, during and around Yorktown, when Washington is President etc. (Does Washington become President when they’re both women?)
  • Also, maybe more on how Washington sees himself in Hamilton, or at least sees the mistakes he made? (Art idea: Washington looking at Hamilton while the ghost of young Washington lingers behind him?) How would that transfer to them being women? Or maybe smut, if you’re doing a shippy fic/art, with power dynamics and discipline (Hamilton being punished for something?) if that’s your thing?

Eliza Schuyler/F!Alexander Hamilton

  • I love how Hamilton and Eliza are very, very different from each other, but at the same time they're very similar. And how they do love each other, but that doesn't stop Hamilton from fucking up massively. I love the complications and messiness and imperfections of their relationship.
  • I’d be very interested to see how their relationship works with f!Hamilton—is this an AU where misogyny isn’t a thing and people of the same gender can get married? Or does f!Hamilton disguise herself as a man and fall in love with Eliza while that’s going on? (And if so do they still have kids after getting married, and how?) Or a complete AU where f!Hamilton comes over to New York and meets Eliza some other way?
  • Hamilton wooing Eliza, Eliza flirting with Hamilton? Waiting for and reading each other's letters? Eliza waiting for Hamilton at home (and her unhappiness at being left behind), Hamilton thinking of Eliza at home? Act II angst? (Does the whole Maria debacle go down the same way it did in canon?)
  • For art—Hamilton and Eliza kissing, their wedding, a domestic moment, a family portrait? Or this is completely 100% optional, but maybe one of Hamilton's letters to Eliza, or a fragment of a letter, illustrated/reproduced whatever way you want to?

F!George Washington/Angelica Schuyler

  • For this, either the army somehow allows women for handwave reasons, or Washington managed to hide being a woman? And somehow Angelica and Washington meet.
  • If they meet as they did in canon, did they have any sort of conversation at the ball? Or maybe Washington knew Angelica as a child? Or did they keep up more correspondence that was lost? Or, after the war, did Angelica visit Washington for some reason? (Maybe a political reason?)
  • If you’re going with ‘F!Washington disguised herself as a man’, maybe an AU Angelica also dressing up as a man to join the army! Either gen or shippy would be very fun here—does Washington discover Angelica at all, or does Angelica manage to evade being detected and maybe somehow manage somehow to become one of Washington's aides without discovery?
  • Smutty fic and art: gentle, reverent dom Washington would be great, worshipping Angelica (and driving her mad through teasing)! Or in an AU where Angelica works under Washington in some way, maybe Angelica gets too fired up and becomes overexcited/insubordinate, and needs to be disciplined?

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • Fandom-specific DNWs: Bucky/Nat and Darcy Lewis, including passing mentions.
  • Endgame spoilers welcome! The one thing I prefer going AU for is Steve not staying with Peggy at the end of the movie, but other than that feel free to go as AU you like or stick to canon 100%. I’m game for whatever.
  • I'd prefer that Coulson, Loki, Tony, Peter Parker, and Vision aren't main characters, please.
  • There's such a vast world to play in in the MCU, and so much of the characters' lives we don't know about because of the way time works in the movies! There's a lot of room for exploration and worldbuilding. My favourite MCU movies are the Cap movies, and I'd love to see what happens between them (and the. Avengers movies)! Between Avengers & TWS, between TWS & AoU, between AoU & CW—I'm really curious as to what happens in the in-between years where obviously important stuff has happened.
  • I'm very interested in politics for this fandom, because so much of the storyline is influenced by in-world politics which we don't get to see. For example, HYDRA's ideology, the politics behind the US supersoldier program, Project Insight being authorized, the Accords—there's so much to explore.
  • CW brought up some interesting questions about the fact that the majority of the problems the Avengers deal with are things they've caused, albeit sometimes necessarily, so maybe something about that.
  • For this fandom especially I'd love to see outsider POVs, whether that be people who are working closely with the characters or people who only see the characters on TV.
  • I love the sheer scale of the events of the movies, so maybe something about that?
  • There's a common thread of the end not justifying the means across the Cap movies, so something about that, maybe?
  • With so many supervillains floating around, there's plenty of room for lots of H/C (or H without C) with characters being captured and tortured and injured.
  • I love fun and asskicking and just superheroes being superheroes too.
  • I adore the fact that the characters have very individual senses of humour!
  • Other things I'm not fond of include AoS in general, the way AoS handled SHIELD in particular, all the Avengers living at the Avengers tower (especially post-Avengers but pre-TWS; I don't really mind pre-AoU since there's some element of canon to it).

Carol Danvers/F!Steve Rogers

  • For this, Steve being a woman would, I think, change some things especially in the context of this ship, and I’d love to see those changes playing out.
  • Did Carol look up to Captain America, the woman who disguised herself as a man to fight the war and ended up being a supersoldier? Or did she have more mixed feelings? Or do people still think that Captain America is a man?
  • How do they meet? Is it even more AU and Steve thaws out earlier, or Carol comes back to Earth before Endgame? Or something set during those five years between Snap and the time heist, Steve and Carol growing closer together? Or maybe post-Endgame?
  • For art, I’d love to see them fighting back-to-back, or training together. Or a post-coital moment. Or them trying on each other’s uniforms. Or some H/C—perhaps tending to each other’s injuries, or hugging after a long day?

Carol Danvers/F!Yon-Rogg

  • I would love it if this was an AU where nothing much changes because Yon-Rogg is a woman.
  • I love how Yon-Rogg is initially a mentor/friend to Carol and how much Carol initially trusts Yon-Rogg, which just makes finding out the truth. I love the final big fight, since I love friends to enemies, and I’d love that portrayed as lovers to enemies if that’s your thing.
  • I’d love to see Yon-Rogg and Carol growing closer together on [Hala] after Carol is taken there. Dubcon-y sex is great, but smutless plot is also great. Or post-canon, Yon-Rogg or Carol finding each other again, either running into each other by accident or on opposite sides of a battlefield. Or maybe Yon-Rogg has to begrudgingly ask Carol for help with something.
  •
  • For art—Yon-Rogg taking Carol to [Hala]? Yon-Rogg and Carol on a mission together, or Yon-Rogg training Carol? Spending downtime together? Post-Captain Marvel, facing each other across a battlefield? Or an AU where the Supreme Intelligence manifests itself as Carol to Yon-Rogg?

F!Steve Rogers & None

My ships: Steve/Carol, Steve/F!Fury, Steve/Gamora, Steve/F!Howard, Steve/Natasha, Steve/Nebula, Steve/Peggy, Steve/F!Pierce, Steve/Sharon, Steve/F!Sam, Steve/Sif, Steve/F!T’Challa, Steve/F!Thor, Steve/F!Tony
Other characters I’d like to see in gen: Bruce, Bucky, Carol, Clint, Fury, Gamora, Howard, Jane, Natasha, Nebula, Okoye, Peggy, Pierce, Sharon, Sam, Shuri, Sif, T’Challa, Thor, Tony, Valkyrie (any of the male characters genderswapped to women is great!)

  • Captain America being a woman would be…interesting and I’d love to see how that plays out. I’d love Steve still trying to join up, disguised as a man or something, leading to getting the supersoldier serum. Whether Steve being a woman is public knowledge or not doesn’t matter to me—I’d love to see the intricacies of each situation explored.
  • I’d love to see more of Steve’s childhood, or being a young adult, or I’d also love to see Steve during WWII. Maybe a raid on a HYDRA base, or forming the Howling Commandos, or working with the SSR?
  • Or I’d love to see Steve learning to live in the modern day, and to keep on going (post-TWS, post-CW, post-IW). Or the friendships and relationships Steve forms in the modern world.
  • For art—character design stuff! I’d love to see f!Cap’s uniforms etc. Or Steve fighting or leading the Howlies, or the moment when Steve is being unfrozen. Or something with the other Avengers, fighting or strategizing or just spending downtime together. Or I’d love to see a recruitment poster or other Captain America-associated paraphernalia with f!Cap.

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

  • If Austen pastiche is your thing, for this canon especially I love pastiche! If not, I will also love whatever style you choose to write in, though.
  • I love the slowburn style of the books, too, if that’s your thing.
  • Regency-era clothes and fashion in general! For art, I would love to see what you imagine the characters would look like, and especially their sense of style.
  • For fic, both canon gapfillers and post-canon is great, although if you want to go completely AU I’d love that too.
  • AU in spaaaaaaaaace.

Elizabeth Bennet/F!Fitzwilliam Darcy, M!Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy

  • I find the concept of genderswapping either Elizabeth or Darcy…intriguing, as that would probably change their entire relationship dynamic. I prefer period-typical attitudes for this request, please (you don’t need to focus on homophobia/misogyny if that’s not your thing, and it doesn’t even have to be part of fic/art at all, I’d just prefer that the setting and all its trappings and social mores stay the same for this request).
  • A lot of the circumstances of their first meeting and subsequent relationship would probably change if Elizabeth was a man or Darcy was a woman—I’d love to see how their relationship plays out in that case, how they go from contempt/annoyance/dislike to growing to care for each other.
  • Or alternately, something set in the future, with the two of them being confirmed bachelors/spinsters and living together.
  • For art: dancing together privately (or publicly, to great scandal?), reading with each other (from the same book?), strolling the grounds of Pemberly, riding out somewhere, the two of them with Georgiana (and possibly other family), growing old together.

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy

  • I don't play hard-and-fast with EU; I don't mind complete faithfulness, completely ignoring its existence, or something inbetween. (I consider the novelizations part of the EU).
  • Planets! I'd love explorations of different planets and their people!
  • Politics! Behind-the-scene views and nitty-gritty details are always my favourite things, and I'd especially love this for characters who are Senators of Rebellion/Resistance leaders.
  • I'm interested in the way the Jedi fail. If the attachment thing is what you love, then go with it, but I'd also love to see a different take. I've always wondered why the Jedi—a religious order which you could leave if you wanted to—are considered wrong for the non-attachment thing (and I admit that the mischaracterization of Buddhist culture and lumping different kinds of Buddhism plus a few other Eastern religions together isn't my favourite thing!). I'd love a take on the Jedi where the Jedi's failings are that it's not made more explicit that leaving is OK, that they get too bogged down in politics instead of doing what's right, and that they encourage attachment in the form of the (very close) Master/Padawan relationship (and whatever else faults, I'm sure there are many!). A respectful take on so-called 'Eastern' religions would be much appreciated!
  • Regarding Anakin—I understand his position, and where he's coming from, but 'it's all Obi-Wan's/Yoda's/Padmé's/Qui-Gon's fault' is not my thing, and I have zero sympathy for the fact that he killed little children. Reluctantly, maybe, (and not-so-reluctantly with the Tuskens) but he killed little children, and I don't really like that. At all. What I would enjoy is an AU where Anakin left the Jedi because he realized that he wanted attachments.
  • Or just ignoring the attachments things in favour of all the ships is fine as well!

F!Obi-Wan Kenobi & None

My ships: Obi-Wan/F!Mace, Obi-Wan/Padmé, Obi-Wan/F!Bail Organa
Other character I’d like to see in gen: Ahsoka, Anakin, Bail, Dooku, Mace, Mon Mothma, Padmé, Qui-Gon, Shmi, Yoda (any of the male characters genderswapped to women is great!)

  • For this request I’d love Obi-Wan being a woman and nothing much in canon changing (or if you want to go AU feel free, but I’d prefer that the AU changes not be because Obi-Wan is a woman).
  • I’d love to see Obi-Wan on a Jedi mission, either as a Padawan or while Anakin is Obi-Wan’s Padawan. Or something about the Dark Side growing and expanding. Or something set during the Clone Wars, a battle or mission or Council meeting (or maybe how Obi-Wan gets on the Council). Or after Order 66 and Mustafar—what does Obi-Wan do in those years? Or maybe something about the Force and how the Jedi use it, or about Jedi culture.
  • AU ideas: Qui-Gon doesn’t take Obi-Wan as his Padawan (and either someone else trains Obi-Wan, or if you’re okay with EU canon, Obi-Wan goes to the AgriCorps), Qui-Gon lives (but Obi-Wan still trains Anakin), Anakin doesn’t fall to the Dark Side, Padmé lives and Padmé and Obi-Wan go on the run together.
  • For art especially, for Obi-Wan I’d love to see character design stuff. Or I’d love to see art of a happy moment, or Obi-Wan mid-battle or during a mission, or Obi-Wan meditating or training with the Force.

The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth – J. R. R. Tolkien

  • There aren't enough fics based on the Myths Transformed version of Middle-earth, and if that's something you'd like to explore, I'd love that, especially a more scientifically accurate (and sometimes, to my mind, a more tragic-and-dark-but-beautiful) vision of Middle-earth. (Other versions would also be wonderful, of course! This is just a specific thing I don't see much of.)
  • I love the fact that Tolkien's canon is a patchwork of different stories and mythologies, both in the Doylist and Watsonian sense, and fic exploring that would be wonderful.
  • Linked with the points above, I'm interested in lived vs. written stories, and Those Pesky Historians, and how unseen forces affect history.
  • Nature that comes alive.
  • The mortals and Elves/free will and destiny debate and the role of the Valar would be a wonderful thing to read about—I'd love exploration of any of the philosophical questions of Tolkien's world, really, but especially this, as detailed in the Athrabeth and writings about the role of the Valar.
  • All things Darkness and Light, really—I'm very fascinated by how these polar opposites work in Tolkien's world (and you can go back right to the beginning, to the Music, if you like), and how Arda is both grim and uplifting at the same time.
  • I love the way magic and power operate in Tolkien's world—the work he's done to make it believable is wonderful. Writing a green sun, indeed! Anything you can write about this would be welcome and much-adored.
  • I especially love the Ñoldor and Númenor, although every Age of Middle-earth holds my heart.
  • For interspecies relationships, I'd love to see an emphasis on otherness and trying to understand each other.

F!Fëanor/F!Fingolfin

  • One of my favorite dysfunctional sibling pairs—I’d love to see the two of them as women with nothing much changing in the nature of their relationships with each other. For this relationship, genderswapping family members as required is fine.
  • I’d love the see them growing apart, and the tensions of their relationship, for fic, but also Fingolfin still following Fëanor to Middle-earth and the loyalty/devotion involved. Just anything about their relationship through the years.
  • Or Fingolfin grieving for Fëanor. Or an AU where Fëanor lives—how would their relationship play out then? How would events of the First Age change, or not?
  • For art, I’d love to see the early days of their youth, before everything went bad—perhaps young Fingolfin trailing after Fëanor? Or one of the scenes from the book, maybe Fëanor drawing swords against Fingolfin or just before or during the Darkening. Or Alqualondë and the havoc there, maybe. Or Fingolfin grieving for Fëanor.

F!Fingon/F!Maedhros

  • Fingon and Maedhros were one of my first Silm ships and the idea of the two of them being women is interesting. I’d love it if the broad strokes of their narrative wasn’t changed (since, as for Fëanor/Fingolfin, I love the tragedy of doomed relationships), but if you want to change details I’d love to see that.
  • I would love to see the early days of their relationship in Valinor—the eldest children of Fingolfin and Fëanor attempting to mend the divide between their families, maybe? Or a moment during the chaos of the Darkening? Or the terrible things they did in Alqualondë? Or the crossing of the Helcaraxë, or Fingon’s rescue of Maedhros? Or the long years of peace, or fighting a war together? Or after Fingolfin’s death, Maedhros pledging loyalty to Fingon? I’d love to see any moment from canon expanded upon, really.
  • Or an AU: what if Fingon didn’t end up rescuing Maedhros? Or what if Maedhros defied Fëanor instead of just standing aside at Losgar? Or Fingolfin doesn’t die in combat against Morgoth? Or any of the choices they could have made differently. (Or a cracky even-more-optional-than-other-optional-details prompt—Gil-galad is Fingon’s and Maedhros’ kid?)
  • For art, things I’d like to see include the two of them in Valinor while the Trees are in full bloom (doing anything—working side by side, kissing/smut, dancing, reading together, wrestling or riding etc), Fingon rescuing Maedhros, the two of them riding into battle, standing on the battlements of Himring, hurt/comfort with one of them injured.

The West Wing

  • For this fandom especially I love loyalty and devotion. The relationships I've requested all involve characters who are extremely loyal to each other, and canon has a ridiculous amount of loyalty kink, and I'd love any kind of loyalty.
  • Canon-typical politics and drama is great. I love the politics and how it's done in the show, and however you want to play with that would be amazing! I especially love how competent the characters are at their jobs even if they're not as competent in their personal lives.
  • Fic/art of the future is also great! I'd also love to see pre-canon stuff.
  • For this show especially, I'd love to see canon divergence AUs.
  • TWW has lots of crossover potential with the MCU, DCEU, Harry Potter, Stargate (SG-1 and SGA), Madam Secretary etc. if you want to go in that direction.
  • Or I would just love to see TWW in spaaaaaaaaaaaace if AUsyou’re your thing.

F!Josh Lyman & none

My ships: Josh/Amy, Josh/CJ, Josh/Donna, Josh/Helen, Josh/F!Hoynes, Josh/F!Leo, Josh/F!Santos, Josh/F!Sam, Josh/F!Toby, Josh/Mallory, Josh/Zoey
Other character I’d like to see in gen: any of the characters in this cast, tbh (and any of the male characters genderswapped to women is great, if that’s your thing!)

  • Josh as a woman is so very intriguing to me, and I’d love to see how that works out. I’d love the broad strokes of canon wrt Josh’s story to be the same (unless you’re going very AU for whatever reason, that’s fine too, just not only because Josh is a woman), but if you want to change character dynamics or other details feel free!
  • I’d love to see Josh pre-canon. Josh’s childhood or time in college and law school, maybe, or climbing up the political ladder? Or the early days of the Bartlet for America campaign?
  • Or maybe Josh politicking and being Deputy CoS. Or post-canon, working as CoS in the Santos administration and the challenges involved in that. Or an AU idea I’d love to see if that’s your thing: Josh ends up CoS instead of CJ (but IMO that’d end Very Badly because of Josh’s and the President’s temperaments). I have an even wilder, wackier idea about Josh being forced to become VP because of a string of disasters/scandals befalling Santos’ VP picks and Josh being one of the few remaining people Congress will agree to nominate, and then somehow becoming President, but it’s a very wild wacky AU the very premise of which is OOC. So.
  • For art—character design stuff! I love women in pantsuits, if you want to draw that. Or I’d love to see Josh working with the other TWW characters, a moment of downtime, being mentored by Leo, on a date with another woman. Or just Josh, in the office, poring over memos or briefing books (or asleep over the same). Or taking a meeting.

F!Josh Lyman/Donna Moss

  • The White House Deputy Chief of Staff and her loyal assistant being in a relationship with each other? Yes please! You can have this happen like in the show, or go totally AU, whichever you prefer.
  • I’d love to see a moment during canon with UST—Donna helping Josh get ready for a meeting, Josh and Donna working on something together, Josh mentoring Donna. Or post-canon established relationship is great too.
  • Or an AU where they get together mid-series—how does that work out? What changes happen to their dynamic?
  • For art, I would love the two of them making out over Josh’s desk. Or the two of them working on something. Or lying in bed together after a long day of work. Or campaign trail sex. Or Josh kissing Donna’s forehead. Or the F/F equivalent of Donna doing Josh’s bowtie, whatever you think that would be. (Also, as for the previous requests, power pantsuits please and thank you.)

F!Josh Lyman/F!Matt Santos

  • I love the near-instantaneous loyalty Josh gives to Santos, and the scope and strength of that loyalty, and the intensity of their relationship, and how they’re foils to each other, and I’d love to see what their dynamic would be like as F/F.
  • For art and fic both, I’d love to see quiet stolen moments on the campaign trail, Josh and Matt conferring on something or talking over a decision or strategy or just having a conversation, or an alone in the crowd moment. Or Matt getting to know Josh and learning about Josh and learning to trust Josh. Or a truly stolen moment, stolen kisses or Josh helping Matt relax.
  • I’d also love to see anything in the Santos administration with President Santos and Santos’ Chief of Staff, working together in some kind of political manoeuvring or in the Sit Room. Or Josh having to talk Matt down from doing something, or a moment where they doubt each other. Or anything about being in a relationship while doing their respective jobs.
  • Or AU ideas: they meet each other sooner than they do in canon (or they’ve known each other for a long time, even?), Santos doesn’t win (how does that affect their relationship?), for whatever reason Josh doesn’t leave the Bartlet White House.
